Question Suzuki GT380

I have a chance to pick up a GT380 engine for what I think is a reasonable price. Thinking about getting it for a future project. How much potential do these engines have? And what would be a good price for one of them? (just trying not to get screwed)

i rode one and liked it. but my rd 350 was much fsster

Ohlins rear shock and forks. fmf q scilencer, dicks racing carb mods, 2007 powervalve adjusting cover, baarkbusters hand guards, all orignal plastics still look brand new. 225 psi of compression,silkolene in the gas and maxima in the trans, rentahal bars and sprockets and d.i.d 520 exmrt x ring chain, al ste up for xc racing and mx. lthe most radical port and polish job i could get, ifes great when you have a 300 cc 2 stroke and ur blowing away 500s and 450 out on the track.

The website says 38hp stock but I'm thinking with some good porting, carbs, pipe, etc.... It could be pretty mean. Any idea on a good price

does it run now? i bet u could make some good numbers,i would say 50-60 and still very rideable. reeds ,carb( triples?)port and pipe and you would have a beast.i would give 150-200$ because most of the stock shit aint gonna be used anyway.

by al l standards im sure 75-80 true hp is easily atainable ...problem is the exhaust pipes are going to need to be custom,back then they really had no clue on modern 2stroke exhaust and head designs and it wil l really limit output

The guy that has it said that the frame was broken so insurance totaled it and there is nothing wrong with the motor (it is just the motor no carbs pipe nothing) Thats what I wanted to hear denny thanks man lol if he is asking $125 for it so I'm thinking I will go ahead and take it off his hands, and hold onto it for my next project. Who would I need to talk to about pipes for it and any idea how much pipes would be for it? I know they wouldnt be cheap by any means given that they would have to be a one off pipe.

when you see the pipes it will look like a 4 poke design it will have pretty much no expansion chamber your best bet is to find some sled pipes that were designed ofr smal l displacment bores and they will likely work alot better than what came stock on it also it will have points instead o f a solid state igntion and liekly a poor compression ratio
