Default KX250R questions

I put a 2000 KX250 engine in my LT250R. It has tons of power and a very wide powerband. I am have trouble hooking up though. Would a heavier flywheel help this? I think it revs too quick. Any suggestions?

yes a heavier flywheel will help greatly but a decent set of tires should be able to handle that engine

dont run a heavier flywheel IMO ...just gear up by adding 2 teeth to the front sprocket.,why slow down your motors rev ability ,when yo u can get much higher top speed and be wide powered and fluid in the trails too?

adding a flywheel will help with his traction problem, adding two teeth to the front sprocket wont solve his problem because at any point that theres a tight trail he wont have that power he needs to get up a hill that lies ahead with no run to it in a trail because of his gearing, also adding two teeth to the front sprocket will rob it of more power, whereas staying at what he has now and adding a flywheel weight will improve traction and not take away much performance at all, they make them for a reason and its not to harm, with more traction he'll be moving faster anyway than he has been without traction and a fast revving engine, IT WILL STILL REV! i really think a flywheel weight is what he should get, thats exactly what there designed for

gearing up wont hurt him i n the trails you just cant be in 3rd or 4th like yo u used to youll still have all kinds of bottom itll just be a bit different than before and less shifting because itll take longer to max out each gear. ive seen the flywheel weights work too for trails on 250 bikes ,i guess id rather experiment with a 7 dollar front sprocket and see if that helps before the $$ flywheel ,im well aware the motor can still rev quickly lol . but your cutting your rpms down by adding weight to a flywheel ,it slows the cran k down somewhat atleast, putting a 50+hp 250kx motor in a lt quad and wanting it to be trail friendly is gonna be a difficult goal IMO

Thanks for the info, any suggestions on what weight if I decide to get one. I believe the flywheel is the problem because it'lll bog, break loose, then rev like hell. Would there be any differences besides better traction and slower revs?
Thanks
