| i will be doing a heart transplant on a 98 blaster . the donor will be a 92 wr500 yamaha . also a +8 swing arm to help launch it . poor little blaster is running great at the moment , but need to try and beat nephew's 660 raptor that has over $ 14,000 in it . i have to admit it is serious fast , but just want to beat him in a straight line drag with half the money .... gainesville florida |

| The YZ125 motor would be fine if you weigh about -100 lbs. I wouldn't try to push any quad with that high strung, small cube motor. And it is also very short/narrow for a 490. The 250 would be the best IMO.

| Yea teh 250 would be the best. The stock 125 does have almost twice the hp of a blaster but it also turns alot more rpms and thats where the power is. You would have to gear the bike really short and low and put a heavy duty clutch in it.

| if it was for an adult i would never put anything smaller than a 250cc in it either if i was swapping . a 125 barely has enough balls to haul the dirtbike frame around . its usuable power isnt made till 8000rpms, youd have no bottom end power and would be in misery trying to extraxt any torque out of thing not to mention itll fry the clutch in a days time and the gears are pretty weak for atv applications.its lack of lowend and midrange would make it pretty slow from point A to point B ,besides your not gonna get 35hp out of it like yo u would a modified blaster motor could potentially have. ![]()

| My bro put his yz250 motor on a blaster frame once. they had to beat the pipe i little bit to get it on here but it ran like hell. They put the motor back on the bike frame and its still running just fine. Go to www.blasterzone.com they have a project bike on there where they are putting a Cr500 engine on a blaster frame. just imagine that ride.......

| A stock yz motor from 2001 is 33hp at 11,000 RPMS. The stock blaster motor is around 20hp being generous I think its more like 17 but it has power down low to get the quad off and going. If you know how to use a clutch and manage a 125 you can always have the power you need but its hard to get the hang of its not easy to ride like a 250 that has the grunt down low. I still wouldnt want to put it in the blaster frame because instead of powering a 210 pound dirtbike it would be powering a 320 pound quad plus a rider which the clutch probably wont stand up to very well. If you could get a strong clutch like a hinson clutch in there and gear the thing to be more acceleration than speed and had the skill to ride it, I think the thing would haul ass and be a blast to ride and it would be different from what everyone has.

| If you run a little higher compression, you can get it going better, but thats about it. a 125 isnt made for torque, its made for horsepower. bump the compression up some, drop some 18"tires on it with the stock gearing, and let the MFer rip. |
