2 28 mm carbs are not going to have as much flow as 1 56mm carb. say you take a piece of paper and cut it to fit perfectly into the carb. it measures 28mm. you make an exact replica for the other carb. find the area of the circles.
diameter divided by 2, squared times 3.14 (pie). you come up with about 615.5. multiply that times the number of carburetors and you get 1,231. this is how much space you can move air through at W.O.T.. now do that with one 56mm carb. the area equates to 2461. double the area of 2 28mm carbs. go with the 40mm carb. it flows a little more than 2 28mm carbs
