Default project yamasaki

ok i've made threads before about a yz490 in a blaster...well the deal didn't work out...but i actually bought an engine and sold the blaster engine. so i assure you since i have nothing to ride this project will go threw. its a 92 kx250 engine that will be there for strict drag racing. goin to have some customs anti vibe mounts... a custom fitted swinger along with a full on drag port/removed powervalved/ and a rechambed head setup for race gas. i'm goin to have shearer make me an out of frame pipe....oughta rip dont ya think. i'm hoping to put myself in the 70 hp range.

i'm actually going to be porting it myself. i've done a good bit of reading and have asked alot of questions. there actually isn't all that much to port on it though. being a dirtbike engine it comes well...pretty opened up. but i'm goin to gain ALOT by removing the side powervalves and opening up those ports. it has a triple exhaust port that might as well not even be there. along with huge lips on the trasfers and intakes. the engine is rated at 44 hp stock on pump gas. i think ported out running some higher compression on race gas 70 shoudln't be that hard to believe. i could be wrong though. oh and i sent an email out to shearer/ftz/cpi/and powerpros about getting a custom out of frame pipe. i've done some reading on here and it seems like they actually want the quad in order to build the exhaust.... j/c what info could they use off my quad that i couldn't give them? i can cut the end off my fmf fatty and mail to them so they see how it bolts up to the engine. and if they want port timing and specs well.. i can give that to them as well. one more thing....who makes a massive sized carb i could use on this thing?

the 44hp rating is in a dirtbike frame -big difference ,but yeah there will be alot to gain by opening up the sub ex ports ,main ex port and getting transfers to open longer and generally getting things to blend out and improve flow if you know what to do and how to do it .but realisticly it will not be making near 70rwhp though IMO , the carb choice is gonna depend on alot of things ..your fuel choice, engine perameters, compression and of coarse your budget , for race gas on that apllication i think a 39pwk would suit it well ..or possibly a lectron 40mm if the budget allows .my.02

i'm actually thinkin of something a little on the wild side for it.. now this is just an idea. i gotta do a lil bit more research but a 1 into 2 carb setup. run 2 blaster carbs on a banshee twist throttle kit. that goes into a custom sheet metal intake. and ask for my budget...its not a big one lol. my first choice was goin to be a lectron...then you look at the price of them. i already have one blaster carb. a complete shee twist throttle kit with cables/grips/and carb caps is like 41 bucks. another blaster carb will cost me like 20 bucks. i'm still debating on what kind of compression i should run. i could run lower compression and not gear it as high or run high compression and gear it real high. that and i got timing to play with as well (stock stator to me looks adjustable)

if it was me i wouldnt waste my time fabbing up plates and shit to run 2 old archaic roundslide shitty blaster carbs (fucker will leak probably anyways). the idea of small carbs is for response and lowend torque on small displacment motors ,your building a drag motor ,you want full throttle ballz to the wall CFM flow at top rpms . its not an easy task to build a 250 with killer topend manners and retain usuable lowend torque drag motors dont like really high compression cause it hurts theyre ability to rev high and knocks down the potential peak rpms ,but 250's seem to really like high compression around 200 mark though ,some motors just favor that .

i do know blaster carbs are well...outdated. but i still do like the idea. how about a set of pwk 28mm carbs. that leaves a total of 56mm. there has to be some serious air flow with that and its with up to date carbs. the design beleive it or not is extremly simple. i just made a rough drawing. i have access to a machine shop so any thing i need to have made well....its there for me lol. and well if anyone knows me i like to make things difficult.

j/c why would 2 blaster carbs be bad? i know they are a little outdated but it will a total of 52mm of carb flowing into that... i would think that would allow for a ton of cfm and still offer decent throttle response.
