yah, i havent checked for air leaks, but i soon will, It never burned a hole through the piston, it just deformed the top of piston and about that timing, run that by me once again, and for that matter how would that effect the preignition?

i think those use a Br9es but i'm not sure. the timing has everything to do with ignitions it dictates when it fires so retarding the timing would fix your preignition problem. what kinda gas you running

I hope it just ends up being a crank seal causing it to go lean.

We were running 93 with Yamalube (I know now AMSoil owns) at 32:1

I just finished making the radiator mounts and I am going to put some finishing touches to the hoses. After that I just need to rebuild and leak test engine, rejet carb, and get paddles and I will be ready for silver lake. I wont be able to get the frame sandblasted and powercoated until after, so its going to be a ugly blaster thats fast. But at least I found some clear coolant hoses, that might be the only thing cool.

I will try to get Travs camera tommorow and get some pics up.

huh??? i'll have to check but i'm pretty sure amsoil doesn't own yamalube.
if they do that wold be their lowest grade bottom of the barrel crap. because yamalube blows

What I meant was it is alot better, its lingo that I picked up from games online. Same as "smokes its doors off"

I forgot to get the camera today but I am gonna get it tommorow for sure, especially now because all the coolant hoses and radiator are finished so I am on the last step to running.

Is there as such thing as a conversion chart for Mikuni jet and Keihin jet numbers.
I am going to be using a different carb ( I think we talked about it when you picked up the Tri-z chris). The carbs are the same diameter, and the yamaha parts catalog has a range from 300 to 350 for the Mikuni, what would be the range for my Kehin PJ.
