| forgive me for using myspace, but it's free hosting. Here i try to take off fast but it didnt turn out as i'd like it. But hey, i have not had my bike a month yet.I can sometimes do it faster if i get further on the tank so the rear breaks loose. Another thing i dont like is that 1st-3rd gear is VERY close ratioed. I guess maybe new yz125's with the 5 speeds have it better spread out. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...oid=1219218677

| I can go through the gears on my 250 without letting go of the gas. effective but hard on the tranny aha |

| Yeah VMX, i always do that. The bike has insane power then the power hits. I cant image your 250's power dude. honda, mine can do it but it's too hard on the tranny for me to do. And yamaha freak, i will try popping the clutch.

| oh i lean well over the gas tank when i take off haha my buddy has a '02 yz125 and i'll hit all 5 gears before he can snap off three... the 250 (stock gearing) isn't that much faster then the 125 but it sure the hell is A LOT quicker getting there haha

| if you want faster starts don't be letting of the gas between shift...go threw more clutches..but overall..you get faster times

| Just save that power shifting for when ya need it cuz it is gonna smoke ya clutches and if you miss will grenade the gears..Other added issue is when you do that it buzzes the hell out of ya motor...and for the launch drag your right foot a little it will give you a little better balance out of the hole and also feather the clutch on the launch..then one mor ething have toe under shifter befor ya launch bike and as you go into 3rd gear return right foot to peg...o the YZ 250 I own digs a trench in dirt roads about 30ft long then 2nd gear about 20 ft when I launch it for drag racing...Have fun and be ready on the clutch when launching and if it wheelies a little out of gate just control it in the twist and if it get's to furry pull clutch in and flash it back open and throttle it up Good Luck |

| Thanx for all the tips fellas. I tried popping the clutch earlyer and the rear just goes kinda sideways, pretty cool but ill need to practice to get it under control. I also didnt miss 2nd gear at all today while launching and going through the gears. Between learning how to launch hard and learning to wheelie(getting there), i'll have a full weekend ahead of me ![]() BTW, when yall say "go through more clutches," yall mean the plates and pads?
