Exclamation Carb problem (leak) 2001 YZ250

Gentlemen,

First off I'm new here and am not sure if this is where this thread belongs so please move it if need be!

Down to business. I have a 2001 YZ250 that when you turn the gas on it flows out of the overflow tube in full force. I pulled the carb apart, cleaned, and inspected it to no avail. I thought the float was sticking but it seems to be fine. I am currently in Iraq and don't have access to the bike but I want to get it running again when I'm home on leave in february.

What typically causes this and what can I do to fix it?

Thanks a bunch and Semper Fi,

Matt

what he said ^^

good rule of thumb is the float should be level with the edge of the bowl (when tipped upside down)

also wouldn't be a bad idea'r to replace the needle and seat (i think it's like 12 bucks)

Thanks gentlemen,

Are these parts easy to find or would I be better off ordering now as to have them for when I arrive home?

Worst case what else could it be, and how do you adjust the float if its off?

I don't know why or what else it could be. The bike has very low hours and has given me nothing but grief. Please shoot me any possible scenario that comes to mind

Semper!

Worst case your float might have a pinhole in it and its full of fuel making it sink and holding the needle open. More likely it just needs to be adjusted. If you dont have a service manual then I suggest getting one if you plan to wrench on your own bike. Welcome to the site by the way.

do you know what the jetting is in the bike? Pilot numbers, main jets, and the needle number. you pretty much have the same bike i do and once it's jetted correctly and add some VF3 reeds it really comes to life
