| Hi, first i would like to introduce myself to the forums and say that I am very new to dirt bikes. So to begin, I went and bought a 1994 cr250, this is my very first bike, and i know i am going to get a lot of flag about it being to much bike for a beginner but i got it for a very good deal and could not pass it up. I have been reading alot on here trying to take in as much as possible. So here goes with the questions. First, how much engine coolant should i have in the radiator? Should it be filled all the way to the top? What coolant can i use? Cause at the moment it is not to the very top, but if i move the bike i can hear that it is almost to the top. Second how long does it take for a two stroke to warm up? The reason I ask is because I have only ridden it twice for no more than a couple of minutes and it wont stay idling. I dont know if me not having it on for longer than a couple of minutes has anything to do with it. Next, it came with a spark arrestor, am I better having it or changing out with something else. Also the pipe is a tad bit rusted. Will the rust hurt the performance of the bike or just the appearance? Sorry for the long post and all the questions, but thx in advance for any and all replies. |

| I like it alot. i keep going to the garage just to see it...wanting to ride it. To be honest I like it more than the newer style. I just dont like the look of how narrow the tank is on the newer ones. i know the newer ones have to be better engineered and should weigh less but, I LOVE MY BIKE!!!! And cant wait for Sunday when I take it out and ride. Another couple of questions. How do you adjust the idle on the carb? And what type of grease do you guys use for the chain? |

| Welcome to E2S. Fill the coolant to the top when it's cold. A lot of riders will adjust the carb so it WONT idle in case they wreck the engine will die and the bike wont get away or the rear tire wont rip them up. If it runs fine otherwise just turn up the idle screw. Forged pistons take longer to warm up than cast. Be careful with the 250s powerband, if you're not ready for it the bike will get away from you easily.

| ok yesterday we found some trails by my house and my girlfriends son tried to take off and the bike got out from under him and my rear fender tore off. so if anybody knows where i can purchase some plastics cause i would just prefer to buy all the plastics so it matches. i was thinking of selling it cause when i rode it, it really scared the shit out of me of how fast that thing is. but i am keeping it lol. also this might be the most stupidest question asked here. when i was driving it once i got out of first gear i was able to change gears without the clutch...(here come the stupid question) do i need the clutch to change gears? I was able to shift up and down without the clutch. which is cool and all but if it hurts it i dont want to do it. thx in advance for all the help you guys will give. |
