CR 500 help

hey my uncle just gave me his 97 cr500 its in amazing shape, the problem is, im more of a quad guy, i have a banshee raptor and a yfz 450, if been on my buddies yz450f and i was a little nervous on it cuz ive never been on a dirtbike till then, but i can ride it just not great, am i gonna be ok on this bike, im 6 foot 200 pounds and in real good shape, but have to concept on how to ride a dirtbike. help me out here any tips? and no im not selling the bike im determined to tame the beast

If you was timid on the YZ450F then wait till you crack the throttle on the hundy. The main thing is to give that bike the utmost respect when riding it or it will fuck your world up so fast. To tame that motor a little buy a Steahly flywheel weight. I put a 13ozer on my 89' when I had it and it tracked like a 450 4 stroke. Now that you own one you can become a member on these two sites and they will give you all the info needed on the hundy.

Just take it easy on it at first and you will get comfortable with the power as it comes on right off the bottom. There is no power/exhaust valve in that motor to wait for the powerband to hit.

the newer 500's are pretty tame actually... you'll be fine... the throttle doesn't open itself... just be careful on transitions from loose to hard ground... lol..
