Default What to buy? YZ250, YZ426F or YZ450F

I am looking for a dirtbike and am pretty set on Yamaha. I am not sure however if I want to go 2 or 4 stroke. We are going to be doing alot of mountain riding ( hunting scouting ) trails, track and dunes so I am leaning toward the 4 stroke but I am use to riding 2 stroke 250's ( it's been a couple yrs since i had one ). I weigh in around 260 now so that is also something to consider. What do you guys think?

the last thing anyone on this forum will suggest is a thumper, I have mostly 2 strokes. I ride a 1994 RM125 and a brand new left over 2006 CRF 450R, with your weight I would say the 450 is the choice but YZ250's are very powerfull too. I weight 165 and my 450 will go up ANY hill. I would consider the 450 due to your weight.

That's kinda the way I am leaning. I rode a 2 stroke 250 a few weeks ago and it was fine with my weight but I wasn't doing any mountain riding either. I have heard the 426's are good bike ( alot cheaper than a 450 ) but does anybody here own one and have any opinions?

I had a 2002 426 and it was pretty top heavy bike. It does have good power though. If you do get a 426 do the 450 cam mod. It adds automatic decompression so you don't have to do the "starting procedure" anymore.

you might also want to consider the fact that you plan on doing some mountain riding. With the 2 stroke you may have to play with jetting, depending on how much your elevation changes. just my 2 cents

250...most 426s have alot of hours and are time bombs...the 450s are just too expensive. 2 strokes the best way to go

Elevation changes will be huge. That is why I am looking into a thumper. I have seen a few really good deals in the state ( even on 450s ) so I think that will probably be the route I am going.

Default get a...

get the YZ250 because if you sign up for this sight you have to have a 2strokeand because 2stroke are a lot better than 4stroke.

That was a pretty lame reply. If you look in my sig I already own 2 2 strokes. Technically I own 5 of them ( 1 quad and 2 jet skis aren't listed ) but thanks for the info regarding joining the site. So anyways my mind is made up after the last reply, I am buying a YZ426. Hopefully within the next week or so.
