Default First Bike

Hey im looking to buy my first bike, in the next month. My only prior expierence on a bike is about 5 minutes on my buds 06 crf250r, and that had plenty of balls for me. Im 6'4" and about 185 lbs, and my price range is between 2000 and 2002. What do you suggest? Thanx.

Welcome to E2S. You will be fine on a CR250R. Omit the "F" out of the equation and you found the best web site for the 2 stroke machine. If you leave the "F" in there then www.thumpertalk.com is your web site for thumper info.

Thanks for the welcome, ive never ridden a 2 stroke before, and i just put the crf expierence( all 5 minutes of it) just as a referance. Do you think a 250 2 stroke would be a good starter bike?

I figured a 250 would have way to much power and with my lack of expierience i would just land on my ass. But ive heard both sides of the story some guys i know said get the 125, but because of my size, you guys a saying a 250 might be good, any opinions are welcome to my cause.
Thanx

yah im coming round to the idea of the 250, i live 5 min down from Sand Del Lee, which is a national level track in canada, and im going to get a pass there as soon as i get a bike. and hopefully if i feel comfortable on the bike do a beginner race or two in september. Do you think this is reasonable a reasonable goal?

I hate to say it but I think for your experience you might wanna NOT go for the CR250. You're too big for a 125, so even though this is a 2stroke website im gonna go with a Crf250r. The power for you would be fine on a 125, just not the size. The Crf is a few more hp, and slightly bigger. I think the 4poke will be your best bet.

Unless you ride ALOT and ride the track a few good times, i dont know if you'll be ready for a beginner race at a national level track. It may be "beginner" but it still requires more then the experience you'll have. At least for your safety.

Its a national level track but it would be a local beginner race. I watched one and there was maby 10 or 12 bikes there, and the first place was a guy on a RMZ 250R who i guess entered it for the hell of it. My friend who races 125/250f class did a race and said it was easier than in the his class, which generally have 30 to 40 bikes, so i dunno i might be able to, i dont expect to win or anything, i just want to do it for the hell of it.

Yah and i dont really have the money for a four stroke, i could if i waited till around late august but then id have a really short season so i dunno, ill keep on looking.
