Default good motor for 250r frame?

I got an old 86 honda 250r frame that im not using for anything and i'd like to maybe find some kind of 2 stroke motor to put in it and make it into a dirt dragger. but I dont know what type motor to go with? the frame is not real good for hard riding like I do, and it needs to be welded in several spots where its broke. and I know its pretty heavy to be used for drag racing but I can clean it up and shave a little weight I guess.

but like I need some ideas for a powerplant. I'd like to stick with a single cylinder 2 stroke, so no banshee motors lol. thought maybe the older air cooled 250r motors would be easy to work with. or find a cheap liquid cooled 250r motor and build it up to decent power. im not wanting to go $$$ all out with 70 or 80+ hp or anything like that. just something that will give average piped and ported banshees a good run for the money. and maybe something to compete with the bro's wr500 blaster thats still in the fine tuning stages. how much trouble would a zilla motor be to use in a R frame? I know that whatever motor i go with i'll consider going with a big bore/sleeve if its available, heavy porting, big carb, run with race fuel, and maybe some kind of drag pipe or topend pipe.

so, any ideas for me?

yz490 cr500 kx500 engines are the choices i would probably use ,all of which will vibrate i n a quad frame but for straight line dragging it wont be a big problem

well, I was kinda gonna leave the big bore dirt bike motors to my last choices cause I dont like the bad vibration issue. and I could use something very similar to a blaster motor, a air cooled 250r motor.

but since I been thinkin about it I kinda got an itch for a lt 500 motor. since its counter balanced it probably wouldnt vibrate too bad. just not sure with the parts availability. and here lately I aint seen to many complete zilla motors for sale

on old air fooler 250r motor wouldnt be the best in my opinion in that quad frame for a dragger, you could however improve that motor by adding a rare, and sometimes very hard to get hondaline 300 big bore kit, do some port work and add a nice pipe and carb and go tear it up! I know mine does!

why not throw a newer CR250 motor in it. they make around 45-47 horse in stock form. slap a pipe on and your set

Why downgrade potential from stock? If vibration is a big deal then use an LT500 engine... I would use a CR/KX 500 powerplant... With an already less than perfect frame and a primary focus on dragging... Who cares about some vibes?

to me a cr500 is the only way to go... especially if you wanna hang with a wr500 powered blaster..
