Normally people install them about 3 to 4 inches down the pipe from the cylinder....Did you buy a weld on or a clamp on?

I have to drill a hole and weld on a nut for it. I'm running a Paul turner high rev pipe on a 250r ATC. I'm going to try and call Duncan racing tomorrow see what they say.

To close & it will read to high & to far away & it will read low. 3"s is too close & 12"s is to far away, somewhere around 7-8"s.

That's what I was thinking. If I remember from reading somewhere, I thought around 8" to 9" from the face of the piston.

I talked to a guy at Ducan racing and he said they never use them because by the time you get a high reading the damage is already done.

I would think the opposite, Most drag racers use the egt for indicating if the motor is running to rich or lean. The egt is the most accurate way to prevent engine melt down.
