i was wondering is it ok to put exhaust tape on ATV pipes, this is going on my dads scrambler 500. would the tape keep too much heat in the engine and burn valves?

Are you talking about tape to repair a leak or exhaust wrap to insulate heat? I don't recommend either. If you have a leak then it should be repaired properly and wrap will only deteriorate the pipe faster.

I believe what you are thinking of is header wrap, exhaust tape is just some cheap a$$ repair for rusty mufflers and it's garbage as far as the header wrap goes I'm not sure never used it.![]()

| it will not hurt anything.....

I don't know if I would use it on a 2stroke pipe it just doesn't seem necessary, but it sounds like an alright idea for the scrambler. ![]()
