exhaust tape

i was wondering is it ok to put exhaust tape on ATV pipes, this is going on my dads scrambler 500. would the tape keep too much heat in the engine and burn valves?

Are you talking about tape to repair a leak or exhaust wrap to insulate heat? I don't recommend either. If you have a leak then it should be repaired properly and wrap will only deteriorate the pipe faster.

im talkin exhaust tape, my dad put it on his drag car back in the day, it helps keep heat inside the exhaust. and no it doesn't have a leak it just gets very hot so we were wondering if exhaust tape would help or would it keep too much heat in and burn the valves.

I believe what you are thinking of is header wrap, exhaust tape is just some cheap a$$ repair for rusty mufflers and it's garbage as far as the header wrap goes I'm not sure never used it.

ya thats what i meant, and he's just gonna put it where the heat shiled is to help keep your leg cool. also would it work on my blaster to i was thinking of putting it on the pipe right where it comes off the engine where the pipe is blue would that affect anything.

I don't know if I would use it on a 2stroke pipe it just doesn't seem necessary, but it sounds like an alright idea for the scrambler.
