Depending on where these dents are on the pipe is where your power loss will decrease. The closer the dents are to the start of the pipe or closest to the cylinder the more power you lose.

Good Info ASR, I would have thought that dents around the divergent cone would have mattered most, since they would be influencing the longer return negitive waves.

My understanding Is the first 6-10 inches are the most critical. The rest of the expantion chanber isnt so important unless its a conciderable dent. Like I said though thats just my understanding.

The small dings you described should not cause a problem for you, it's really when the dents effect the size/shape of the expansion chamber that is a problem.

what i have heard is the closer to the cylinder the dents are the more they will affect power and also the bigger the dents are the more it will affect power. but if you have dings and dents that are little dont worry about them mx old kx100 got 5 little dents all at once from wrecking and it didnt affect the power at all

there is like 5 to 6 dints that are really small that are on the piece that connects to the cylinder but are all spreed over not in one spot and one underneth the expanision chamber were the bracket connects to the motor mount

Default fixing those dents

I heard that you could fix those dents in an expansion chamber by heating the dented area and then pressurizing the pipe with compressed air and they would basically pop out. This would mess up the finish especially if its crome. I think there was actually a guy makin a kit to do this. Some fitting prolly to attach to the pipe to pressurize it. Ever heard of this method?

You should really worry cuse I have DMC pipes and in order for them to fit the company had to dent the right pipe to clear the radiator hose or something.

i know of a guy around where im from that can fix dents in pipes, just by sealing both ends up real good and heating it...but PLEASE nobody do this becuase all your basically doing is making a pipe bomb...I have a good friend that has a nice big scar on his chin from trying to fix his own pipe...
