| you really didnt need to bend that pipe or even make relief cuts in it to make it curve. simply cut through the pipe with a band saw at a slight angle now turn the pipe section 180 dgerees and it will start to curve weld it back up. more cut and turns you make the smoother the bend will be. this is also how you can make cone sections curve although its easier to design the pipe with a curved section and then cut out the peices that will form a curved cone. did that sound strange its hard to explain. cut and tun method is easier for beginners if you want to build some pipes. and to the OP your pretty much out of luck finding tapered sheet metal tubing in all the right sizes angles and lengths. since the 60's tuners have been making tuned pipes from rolled and welded cone sections its a tried and true method learn it if you want to make pipes. plus theres no way you could build a pipe that matched a desired design if you tried to use premade tapered tubing for all the sections. |
