Default question on jumping...

its always bothered me and held me back from anything big in a jump. i watch videos of people jumping over things, from hill to hill, and other similar things. my question is how do you know how fast to go?

Fast enough to clear any obstacles.......you should really concentrate on the landing part.......a bad one can really mess up your day......

u calculate the distance from landing to landing, in feet, then multiply that by your total mass in pounds and divide it by the displacement of your motor, and it gives you an answer in mph, how fast you should go

im no freestyler or anyhting, but i think the easiest way to start out is make a tabletop, that way when you come up short, u dont case the landing, u just land on the flat part of the tabletop, then as u get more and more comfortable hittin the jump u start goin farther and farther untill u are landin on the downhill ,

yep, jjust go out and experiment with smaller shit.. Eventually hit a small double, then try a bigger double... if you do it right you dont even realize your in the air.. I learned at a motocross track, just kept hitting the smaller juumps over and over then stepped it up another notch etc.

He's right. You don't know tell you've tried it a few times. I've had bad landings going to fast as well.

i tried jumping a creek on my sled. had plenty of height and distance. what i didn't know was that there was a down tree and it bucked me off right into a tree and dislocated my shoulder. moral of the story, always scope out the area before you jump
