| this is EASILY the worst topic ever, no offense, but nothing good can come from a blue oval vs. bowtie debate... everybody has their preference, and thats fine, i hate it when people like blaster though, start argument by saying that chevys blow the doors off any fords, and dodges or anything else. there is probably trucks out there, ford superduty's with turbos, and some nice tires to put the power to the ground that could "blow the doors off" 370's elky any day, with their torque numbers, its crazy how fast they can be, with maybe a few grand i could get a superduty running high 14's maybe... just an insight, not trying to start an argument. but i really dont care what other peoples preference is, MY preference is the only one that matters to me.... which is jeeps, but that wasnt a choice, and since i grew up with my dad being the manager of a big ford dealership, blue oval all the way for me..

well the elkys not even close to done but with the old 327 and a highway gear (2.83:1) it was soemwhere in the low 13's range (i figured about 110-115 in 1/4) and with the new enigne i'm building gonna be more like low 12's high 11's. sorry but if you have a 14 second super duty i'll be waiting for you at the end of the track. jsut the wieght difference is ungodly. hell i'm hoping to have my car tip the scale at about ohhhhhhh............ 3000-3100lbs. a super duty wieghs in at well over 7000 lbs. so if every 100lbs=.1sec (thats the rule for figuring) i've already got a 4sec advantage. you better build one hell of a diesel to make that up alone not to mention teh power difference. you might jump teh line quicker but.... gas engiens rev. diesels don't not to mention the low 2500RPM redline on most diesels. i've driven super dutys they are a nice truck but... they aren't a race car. |

| lol very true. Ever hear of the college Wyotech? they did a diesel test somewhere in wisconsin i forgot where....I think it was like out of 100 or 150 diesels...modded to whattever you can...the top 10 where : 7 duramax's, 2 powerstrokes, and a cummins.... Says alot there about the duramax's (or cows as my chevy high performance magazine would put it lol...
