Check the plug wires. Firing order on a small block chevy is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. If your wires are out of order that will happen. My brother decided to "clean up" his wires and just plugged them up straight and screwed all kinds of stuff up. Try loosening the bolt that holds the distributor, should take a 9/16" wrengh. Leave some tension on the bracket, and adjust the distributor back a hair...

Timing issue. Get a timing light and check it.

you "should" hope its the timing. Timing issues you can fix for nothing... if its another issue you will be shelling out some cash. Just get a timing light and check that out first

Im 100% sure its a timing issue of some sort tho. be it ignition or valve timing. if you cant figure it out you can always just reset all the timing and see if it still happens.

If you need help with the timing i can walk you through it.
