Vin#

How can I find out the year of a dirtbike from the vin# ?
Or who could I have run it to tell me?
It's a Suzuki Rm125. Older style, like around 86'. Just guessing by pics I've seen, but I want to make sure.

I forget how to do it you take one of the letters in it and thats what tells you the year but I found this site which should help http://www.geniuz.cz/vin_decoder.php

Says it's an 85'.
