Default blaster siezed piston

my son siezed the piston in his 95 used blaster this weekend. does anyone have any tips on which kits to rebuild the top end are better than others? i havent rebuilt a 2 stroke before and dont know good from bad and want to leave his bike as close to stock oerformance as possable he is only 9 and doesnt need more power (yet). i have a manual and will be tearing it down this next week to get it ready for the next trip.
Thanks

Only 9? On a Blaster? And he seized it? I blame it on Hip Hop. Seriously, Wiseco makes the best pistons IMO but lets hope the jug aint trash in which case it will need a bore and oversize piston.

ohh and im wondering, how did he seize the motor? does it still have the oil injecter on it? if so that just might have caused it to seize, if you still have it id get a blockoff kit and pre-mix, even if that wasnt the reason.

I just rebuilt a 2001 blaster and to tell you the truth the hardest part is just taking apart all the stuff to get to the motor . The rest was simple. Ours was already .040 over so we went with a .060 over bore and piston to match it. If you have a local machine shop have them look at the cylinder and if it needs to be bored it should only cost about $60+- for the machine work
.
We rebuilt ours for a total of $135 including machine work, piston, rings, and gasket kit.

You might want to look into getting a oil injection block off kit and start premixing your gas because thats why ours seized. I have heard its a very common problem. It will give you a chance to teach your boy about premixing as well

lol...... i'd recommend amsoil 40:1 but that's just me...
like everyone said, go with a wiseco piston.....
my bore and hone only cost $35 since it's a single....but i guess machine shops are different everywhere.....
blasters are known to have crappy stock cranks, have you looked at how much play is in it?

I agree with everyone else, weisco piston, and get that oil pump blockoff. If the cyl. f'd up you will have to bore it, or resleave it. But no big deal. You can get a used jug in good condition on ebay

Adding to all the other good advice on here: While you have the motor out and at a machine shop, this is a good time to port it and mill the head, maybe lighten the flywheel. You'd have to run higher octane obviously if you mill it. Could throw in a stroker/stuffer kit too. Just things to think of while it's already taken apart.

He said its for his 9 year old son, he doesn't need porting lol.....

Go with a wiseco piston, and a block off kit.....

My last rebuild cost over $600 lol...
But to bore the cylinder was only $40
