You'll know...

Basically it'll feel like you lost traction... but you didn't. (if that makes any sense) You can hear the engine rev... but the wheels will not be spinning as fast as they would "normally" at whatever given RPM range you're in. This is harder to explain than I thought it would be... but just picture yourself letting off the clutch and hammering the gas... the engine revs up real quick... but the wheels just aren't turning as fast as they should be.

When it slips, the clutch plates aren't creating enough friction to grip down and spin the shaft along with the crank..... or something to that effect.

YOu also might hear the engine RPMs go up and down a bit without you providing any change in throttle input. When the RPMs dive without you letting off the gas at all... that's the clutch catching back up and starting to grip as you put less load on the engine.
