well i really wouldnt try it, but iv heard of people welding gas tanks but they have to either be full of water or gas at the time that they do it, i personally wouldnt do it with the gas in it, but from what iv heard it doesnt burn cuz with gas what burns is the vapors, and if its totally liquid with no room inside it to vaporize it wont burn, i dunnooo i would do the water thing, or the argon thing. but that gas thing.....well came from a person that bet a guy he couldnt put his cigar out in gas, he won......

If you're going to store a tank without fuel in it, go down to wally-world in the cat litter section and buy a container of silicate for $7. That'll absorb all the moisture that could possibly develop from sitting.

problem solved! They make an epoxy that you pore into tanks. It hardens and coats anything thats in the tank. Heres the downside...its like $40 a quart. Also, i don't know the name of it right now, but i'll do a search (and you should too) and i'll see if i can get some. I know many auto parts centers carry it, so i suggest lookin round.

i've brazed gas tanks before with no problems. i just made sure i rinsed it out good with water first and i also let it sit with water in it for awhile.

to get the rust out of the tank use the Kreem full kit. it comes with a rust remover, cleaner and a sealer. when you use that rust remover you'll be amazed. it takes all the rust right out of it. i even stuck a rusty piece of steel in the tank and it cleaned it right up so it was like new. then after you use the cleaner the sealer puts a coat on the inside to fill any imperfections and also fills small pin holes, stopping rust from happening again.

I just am not to excited about welding them. I have seen what happens to someones chest welding on gas tanks. Looks like a pizza that was dropped and thrown back in the box. Nasty.

And just a tip for anybody who smokes, a bic lighter is comparable to a stick of dynamite when it blows up. Ask the dude who had one in his chest pocket...oh thats right...he is dead. Sorry to get off topic but the shit is scarrier than it seems. Alot of people have killed or maimed themselves from stupid attempts at welding. OK, I am done. Cool you found some shit for the tank. I knew what it was just forgot the name. I used it on a Honda Odyssey tank. It does work great.
