Blackhauk90 is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Raising compression

I've heard of removing the head gasket and replacing it with a thinner material like aluminum from a pop can if you will.. Or all together removing the gasket and replacing it with a special gaskget goop stuff.. Is this a common thing to be done or is it a recipe for disaster?

recipe for disaster most likely. If its a honda you can run a CR gasket which is only .010 thick but its not like cutting an aluminum can up. Dont do that.

There's a huge difference in the material on pop can and an aluminum gasket. If, and I am not saying to do so, you wanted to make a gasket you should use .010 aluminum flashing material or copper. However, If you've little experience in doing this, don't. Such thin materials require the mating surfaces be virtually pristine flat.
