Default LA SLEEVE problems

I've had a big bore 1 of a kind vintage snowmobile project with LA Sleeve now for over 9 weeks (approaching 10). 14 phone calls and 7 emails with only 3 returned calls and 2 emails. Project simply may not work, but I'm getting the run around in a BIG WAY. Now the frustration level is off the chart. Anyone have an nother shop they could recommend.

NorthWest Sleeve did a project several years ago. nice outfit to work with. May have to pull my work and ship to them. Spoke with the Department Manager at LA Sleeve and he told me that they are down to only 1 guy now. Lost 2 workers this past month. Claimed he could not find anyone with talent to hire.

Doesnt mean it's a false claim. Any hack can drop a 4-stroke sleeve in a jug, a 2-stroke requires proper allignment in a very short amount of time. When I need to resleeve my XR's, I do it myself. While I have done 2-strokes successfully, I avoid it whenever possible. They really may be having a hard time locating some good experienced personnel.

You have to bear in mind that there's very little, if any, profit in one-offs. Companies don't like to do them. They shelf that stuff to do other, easier, more profitable, jobs. It's nothing personal, just sound business. It may behoove you to look elsewhere, but again, don't feel it to be a personal slight against you that LA Sleeve can't get the job done.

Never took anything personnal, and I can understand the labor issue. However, the service I've recieved was so poor. Not returning calls, not retruning email. Now just today, I get a "if we can do this it will cost around $1000. Do you want to continue"? Well, it took 10 weeks to get this far with them. I was expecting to hear a cost of around $600 or so. Hell they already have the sleeves produced and on the shelf for $150 each. Just putting the sleeves in a different cylinder.
When I get done being so pissy, I'll contact someone else and start this idea again

Sounds like you need to snag the sleeves and send the work out to someone else then. There's never an excuse for poor customer service. $700 to install a set of sleeves is just plain robbery.

Again, this is not a standard job. Trying to take cylinders from 56mm to 60mm so there will also be a machining issue. Originally I wanted to go from 56mm to 68mm. The 68mm sleeves are a stock sleeve for them and all the port locations/timming match up. But with the 68mm sleeve they have indicated there would not be enough material left in the transfers. There should be enough material to do the 60mm job however.
NWSleeve did a great re-sleeve years ago for me, I might just hit them up regarding this big bore idea
