Must suck to live where you are if they're all that expensive. 3 in yesterdays paper. 1986 TRX250R in great shape with a short list of mods, $850. An 88 with a long list of mods, $1500. An 86 in stock form, $1200. The only time I see em around here hitting $3k is totally modded out for racing.

ATVs are a little higher here than in other parts of the country, but you must live in 250R heaven. I just did a search on ebay and on CycleTrader.com and I see a small decline in price, but nothing like what you are describing. Like I said, we are coming into a low time of the year. I wish I had a copy of your paper. I sold my 86 TRX250R with a few bolt ons and minor suspension for $4k. I would have laughed if anyone offered $1500. Seriously, if they are that cheap, you should buy a trailer load of 250Rs and bring them down here. You could make a killing. Especially that 86 TRX in excellent condition for $850. I gave that for my sons XR100. I would really like to see these Rs you are talking about.

Shit, go to Texas and buy a truckload of Odyssey's and haul em up here. I used to buy em down there for anywhere from $100 to $500 running. Around here they sell for stupid money. Funny thing, right under the ad for the $1200 250R is an ad for an 85 ATC Big Red for $1900 and I 'bout guarantee it'll sell first. I see these junks in the paper for $2000 and more all the time, and they actually sell. 'Course, thats just the hillbilly back-water mentality around here.

I haven't seen a running Odyssey for $500. Mabey 15 years ago. Hell, when I was in high school, I bought a running 86 Tecate for $85 and sold it for $125. Thought I did real good. I kick myself everytime I think about it now. I buy a lot of my bikes and ATVs out of Texas and Missouri and they are no cheaper there than they are here in Oklahoma. You might can get an older FL250 for about $1000, but when you get up around the 85 models, anything under $3k in decent shape is a deal. The Pilot is even more. Well, I am going to say it again. If you can get bikes that cheap, you should load up and make some cash. I know a ton of guys around here who would take those 250R's off your hands.

I have drifted way off the subject of this thread. TurfTaimer, the Z isn't that hard to find parts for. You might already know most of this, but I will tell you what I remember off the top of my head. Alot of Banshee, Blaster, and Warrior parts will cross over. (not motor obviously). I know on the rear shock, you can use one off the Warrior. Or you can go with a Banshee or Raptor shock as long as it has a remote resivoir. You can use a piggy back resivoir shock if you relocate your fuel tank. Tri2Stroke.com has a really good thread on a top mount fuel tank install by 2Xtreme. This will also let you eliminate your fuel pump which is another weak point of the Z. I have heard a lot of people really like the Banshee shock. I believe the axle out of the Banshee will also cross out if you want to go with an extended axle. Check out that site. 2Xtreme wrote a lot of good stuff on his Tri-Z that had a ton of mods. It is pretty interesting. You might get some ideas of what you want to do with yours.

Most guys use the tank off the Zinger for this. I have a tank off a Badger that I was going to use on mine. It is slightly bigger and really didn't look that bad, but I couldn't ever find a way to really attach it securely. I think the Zinger tank only holds a little over a gallon. I don't rememeber what the Badger tank holds, but I know it is more than that. It kinda made it look like an oversized tank on the Z.
