| Hi, I am going to look at a 1985 Suzuki Quad Racer 250 for $300. It runs but has some noise coming fromt he bottom end. It is probably a rod knock. So i figure that the water pump seal is proably gone and/or the crank bearings are gone. How hard is it to rebuild the bottom end? Also what else should I do while I have it apart? I will probably do the topend and the waterpump seal. I was thinking of getting a bore kit but I don't feel like being bothered with all the tuning. I have an FMF pipe that I think is for this quad so I am allready planning on rebuilding the carb and getting a couple different jets to try out. Please give me some opinions. Do you think it is worth the work? Is a 1985 model any better or worse than the newer ones? I am almost positive that it is liquid cooled like the newer ones. If anyone has done this job could you tell me how much I could do the job for if I am doing all the work myself and getting stock parts? Any comments would be great. Thanks, Chris |
