Gasoline Temperature

Is it an urban myth that lowering the Temperature of gasoline increases performance? Does anyone have any techicle data to either support or shoot this down?

It's always been a documented fact that cold petroleum-based fuel atomizes and combusts better than hot fuel. Hence cool cans that virtually every Nascar vehicle has. Another example of temp changes is the bottle blanket for NOS.

There are other methods that assist in atomization such as high-pressure fuel injection. High pressure causes the fuel to exit the injector at a greatly reduced temperature.

As for the documents themselves.............THEY never helped my quad or bike go faster so I don't keep em on my computer. Do a Google search, you'll find something or other.

Yeah, cold air/fuel is denser. Back in the old days, drag racers would put bags of ice on their intake manifolds for more power

I know cold air helps the motor alot....hence "cold air intakes"

my buddy use to have a street/strip 66 stang that had a cool can on it. all it consisted of was a large coffee can sized aluminum box and a coil that ran his fuel through. he use to fill it with ice and swear it made a diffrence.
