Talking Need help with my clutch.

I can't seem to get my clutch adjusted right after removing the cover to work on the rock solid zilla water pump. I put the clutch back just like it was and now it doesn't work unless it is adjusted way in. It grabs halfass and its adjusted so far in that the hand lever doesn't do squat. I did see my friend prying the clutch perch forward on the case trying to get the cable off, and I don't know if maybe that is what is causing it not to work. I don't really know alot about clutches or two strokes for that matter. I wonder if maybe there is something in there that he could have stretched out by prying it forward? I am dying to ride it and this goddamn clutch is the only thing holding me back. I did the topend job my self with my buddies help, and it is doing great. It fires right up now. Anyways, any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Sounds like you may just need to take the slack out of the cam on top of the case. Remove your cable down on your case...move lever to the right until no slack in clutch...you may have to move lever on spline to make up slack..reattach and try again. If you clutch is only grabbing very little, this might be your problem. Your not getting a full engagement.

That's what I have been doing, turning it all the way to the front, sliding the perch on as far as the cable will allow and adjusting from there. Is there any way my buddy could have messed something up when he pushed the lever so far forward? Thanks for the help man.

Are you saying that when the bike is in gear that it doesnt move because the clutch is slipping or that when you put it in gear and pull the clutch it wont disengage and let the motor run without moving the bike?

Im pretty sure your friend couldnt have hurt anything because if he would have broke anything you would have known it or heard it.

It won't allow the bike to roll when in gear and the clutch held. When it does start to let it move, I have the adjustment so tight that the clutch handle itself doesn't make a difference when I pull it. The handle was very easy to pull before. Now when I get it set just like it was, it is real tight.

I think a quick disassemble might be in order to check assembly order...make sure you have a schematic and follow it exactly. Something must be put together wrong. Take your time, complete reasseble probably will fix your problem or find what is wrong. Sometimes takes less time this way than trouble shooting for hours. Let me know if you need a schematic or drawing.

Umm. In the center of the clutch there is a stud and a lock nut that pushes the pressure plate away from the clutches to disengage the clutch. If u back it off it will jive u more cable slack and your clutch will engage.
