Default Break-in

Just installed a Wiseco piston on my RMX250. Was wondering if anyone could tell me how to properly break it in.

mix a tank 32:1 and let it warm up, and just take it easy on it for the first tank of gas....

Check your compression first. THen mix a tank of 32:1 NON SYNTHETIC premix. Fire it up, let it run for one minute or so. Shut it off, let it cool off. check all cylinder and head bolts for tightness. Run it for about 2 minutes. Cool off. check everything again. Start it up and take it for a SHORT ride going no more than about 1/2 throttle. about 5 maybe 10 minutes tops. Come back and cool off, check bolts again. another short ride about 3/4 throttle. Come back and check compression, you should see about a 15 PSI at least gain from the baseline reading you took first. If so, its broken in. if not, one more fairly easy ride should get you there. Once you get that boost in compression, your free to rip on it. Use up that tank of non synthetic oil, then switch to your usual if needed

I usually run a whole tank through at idle. Waiting till its nice and warm and shutting it down and the restart when its cool to the touch and repeat

I don't like letting idle more than normal since no air is flowin over the radiator to cool things off. Warm it up a little. Ride it varying the thottle position for 5 minutes. Let cool completely. Ride 10 min. Cool and retorque. Just take it easy. 32:1 petroleum based oil. Everybody has there own way for sure but I think the compression test would probably be best.
