| Just a note about the future of two strokes..... I personally don't like 4 strokes, got a yz250f if anyone wants it, I just bought an '03 RM250 to get back on a 2 stroke..... I, like everyone else, have wondered about the future of two strokes...... Personally, I think over time people will realize the drawbacks of 4 strokes, not as fast, and much much harder to work on........and over time, the popularity will wain from where it is now......No doubt four strokes are better for climbing hills.........but when you want a bike that will fly, is very fast, accelarates very quickly and is light, is there anything but a two stroke..... Anyway, I have a friend that works for Yamaha, not the motorcycle, but the marine division, and I asked him 'Are 2 strokes going out?' He said that last month he was at the yamaha factory headquarters in US, and his answer was an emphatic "NO", he said if you had seen what I have seen you would know why...............................they currently are developing fuel injected two strokes that will burn much cleaner and still developing the two stroke engine.... So I just think that 2 strokes will not go away.............btw. the EPA said that they will not ban two strokes designed for competition purposes..... Also, I have a buddy that just bought a crf250x and he has had that thing apart a 1/2 dozen times in the last month working on it.................do you think that average guy wants to do all that? What do you think? |

| What do I think? I just SOLD a CRF250X 04, after 3 rides on it. You are right, great for climbing hills, but just plain boring. I lost money on it, but dont care. Im gettin' a 2 stroke. Why did you go with the RM? And you said EPA wont ban for comp. purposes, what about liesure purposes? |

This is what I have said all along. There is r&d on 2 strokes every day. they are by no means out. I dont think you will see yamaha put efi on the banshee motor and make it sellable but other companies such as skidoos sdi motors and polaris clean fire motors are in development all the time. I think in the future people are gunna start to regret chaseing such 2 stroke legends as the banshee and blaster away. They are gunna come back into demand and the price is gunna go up then level off. People will want these quads and wont be able to get em as time goes on. I keepin mine...

| What I mean by hard to register if they ban all 2-strokes and all you can get is a race only model. You will have to find a person who will slide you a sticker

| Ok, Good answer. Who on gods green earth can tell me who would know if and when these 2stroke mx bikes will be banned?? I would call them. ANYONE know if this is state related here in the states? Seriously, I am about to shell out about 6k greenbacks. I DONT want a local track to tell me, "nope", cant ride your spankin' new yz250 here bud, cant register that one". ANYONE? |

| Sorry I should have mentioned this. You will be able to ride your 2-stroke forever they can never ban you from riding. Now a track could say no you can't ride but I really doubt they will do it. I mean they get paid only when you show up to ride. Buy the 2-stroke they will grandfather all 2-strokes bought just like you can still ride 3 wheelers just dealers can't sell them so that means there is no way for new ones to be built it will be the same deal were you cant buy them from a dealer. hope that explains it a little better

| i think if they decide to ban the 2 strokes good for them i dont care ill go to stealership and buythe last new she and cover that bastard with a tarp and let it sit in my garage for 10 years and then ill break it out evry once in awhile to show up latest and greatest 4 choke that comes out that month,it will definitaley increase in vlue lokk around you three wheelers are still pricey look at pilots,tecates,zillas,250rs, you cant by these kinds of bikes today for less than you wouldve bought them in mid 80s,that tells me there will always be a demand imagine what a stock she never even out of crate will be worth in 20 years, seems like the displacement is getting crazy on 4 chokes and its gonna be over 1000 cc soon and i bet you a piped she will still beat that bike when it comes out, look at history its human nature things come back around
