1987 yz 250

I know some one that wants to sell/trade me a 1987 yz 250. This kid dont know anything (though he thinks he does). He said it has new front and rear plastic, and the old radiator shrouds are still good, but the gas tank has a big crack. It has new renthal bars and fmf pipe. It needs a new rear shock. He said they put a piston in it and started in on a stand (not in the motorcycle) and was shifting through the gears while runing it and broke the shift fork (im surprized he knew what that is). So he said he completly rebuilt it. I dont know if he did or what parts he used. This kid is not very smart and there is a good chance that this bike is probly stolen. Any ways what do you guys think this is worth? He is trying to get me to trade him a 87 toyota 4x4 with a 22re that hit a tree and totaled the front end and frame, but i wont trade it. I am thinking about offering to trade him a savage 21 rc car. What do you guys think about it? Was it even a good bike?

well if it is stolen you can part it all out except for the frame....but you might be able to part out the toyota for more....if you get caught with a stolen bike it get impounded and what ever you paid is lost...

ill take it & stole bikes you really caqnt gte in trouble cuz all you have 2 do is file out the bar code on the frame & plus cops dont check the code they might just take it ..they dont run it on the computer

I lost a CR 500 at a noise checkpoint at the dunes on labor day weekend. I had 1300 dollars in it before it was ridable. I spent 6 days in jail while they sorted things out. Never again will I ride a questionable machine. On top of losing the bike, I still had to pay the noise violation ticket.

Believe me I would have, But It was a trap, and I had never ridden at the particular place before. I honestly didn't think I needed to run. They checked the vin # because the offroad permit was registered to a much newer machine. I was very bummed at first, and wished I would have swapped frames, or parted it out, or something. But lately I think It was best the rightfull got his bike back, thats what I would want if the bike was stole from me. An expensive lesson to say the least.

well not really cuz you got it from the stealer so really by right its yours (unless you stole it from the stealer) the guy that shoild get in trouble is the guy you got it from & plsu you put a lot of money into it
