switching from golden spectro to maxima castol

would it be a down grade or upgrade and i would like more info on it becouse its easy to get at my local shop and golden spectro is always running low

imo it's an upgrade and the reason it's probably always there when the spectro is sold out is cause it's probably more expensive...lol

so how much oil should i run with 5 gallons to get a 32:1 MIX

thats alot of oil becouse for 20 years now i have been using 6 .oz of oil to 5 gallons of gas and it still smokes alot with golden spectro at 32:1 , i geuss oils have changed over the years or something if i run 20.oz of spectro like that that it would be like running 20:1 times two.

32:1 is 4 oz. of oil per gal of gas.

I run that in my banshee and yz125. They both run real strong and problem free. But, they are jetted for that.

32:1 is 32:1 no matter what kind of oil you are using, that being 4 0z oil per gal. of gas. At the rate you were mixing oil to gas ( 6 0z to 5 gal) your mixing ratio would be around 120:1. At 120:1 I'm suprised that you kept anything running. I would suggest tearing down your top end and taking a good look at everything as I think you will find a lot of wear. As to the Quality of oil "In My Opinion" Castrol 972 is miles aboue Golden Spectra.
