Talking Im back and got a 90 cr250r!!!!!

Okay, first of all let me ask my question. The guy that had it before me was riding it and it lost compression.... the cylinder and piston are destroyed. It appears that he forgot to add oil to the gas... the gas is clear. Would this cause damage to the crankshaft? I am fixing and selling this bike to make some cash, and dont want to spend 300 on a crankshaft if its not 100% necessary. The Crank bearings are very smooth and the crankshaft rotates smoothly too. Oh and i got the bike for 250 bucks I am getting the cylinder replated, powervalve cleaned, and new piston and gasket kit from Eric Gorr for 325. It needs about 100 bucks in misc parts (both levers, plastic renew, crankase clutch waterpump and ignition cover gaskets, paying the shop 20 bucks to put on the 756 that i took off my crf250.) So 100+325+250 is 675... i hope to get 1k for it. I am going to strip her down and sandblast and repaint the frame and subframe either red or black. Oh and i dont plan on staying a traitor forever. Once i sell this and have a summer job, i plan on picking up a 2000ish cr250! Oh and one more question... will a local engine shop be able to press in a iron sleeve? That might be cheaper than having it replated... LA sleeve wanted 275 just to resleeve it!

cheack the bearings and seals, they would be the first to go since the oil in the gas lubercates them

you can check the rod bearing by seeing if there is vertical play in the rod. even if its a small amount replace it...or else your going to be kicking your own ass when it seizes.
