Default Gotta comment on the jan. dirtwheels

Dirtwheels did a shoot out on the blaster in the jan. edition of the mag. It was mostly positive shockingly... But they had to dis the 2 stroke just cause they get hard ons over the sound of a pukeing, choking, pos, 4 joke

I quote:

"In 2003, Yamaha gave the blaster a new nosepiece and headlight. Since then they have upgaded the handlebars as well. Now all it needs is a DOHC, 250cc four-stroke engine."

and they also had to say that the mojave and 300ex are faster and handle better. I havn't ridden a mojave but I thought the 300ex felt way slower than my stock blaster.

other than that it was pretty positive, and thats not bad for a 2 stroke hatin mag. like DW. they emphasized how reliable it was and that is usually one of their biggest complaints about 2 strokes

I still hate them though...

You must be talking about that entry-level quad shootout they had...I remember that, and I remember thinking the same thing. I've rode a 300EX too, and i will say it handles pretty good, but that was about the only thing it had going for it. It wasn't anywhere near being fast, and I've raced a toomey piped blaster with my quad, and I did win but that blaster was not far behind at all...no more than a bike length or 2, which is WAY closer than a 300 ex. I've heard the mojave's handle awesome too, but the engine is way outdated and has no balls whatsoever. THeir test riders must need lo learn how to ride a 2 stroke or something. You can't just get on one and shift whenever you feel like it and let it bog, especially a blaster. After seeing what I have seen from blasters, a 240, piped and reeded blaster with a good rider would give a lot of these newer 4 pokes a run for their money, with about half the engine.

yeah a blaster kills a 300ex and a mohave. and to comment on teh mohave they suck!!!!!! kawi has never benn known for teh best ahdlign quads or for haveing the best brakes taht probaly why they turned to suzuki for there 400 sport class quad. don;t get me wrong i think t3's adn t4's are bad ass but i have heard form alot of t4 owners that the quad isn't the best handling thing on the planet. thats ok with me though i ride banshees haha. i had my 98 blaster and i could absolutly skome a 300ex and a mohave hell i was illignwarrior to while we are on the subject. for entry level the blaster is the best it comes in at about $1,000 cheaper than those "heeps" DW sucks and everyperson on this site knows that. probably why there is 99 sigs. on the petition

I've ridden a mojave and there alright, good torque, quick but not fast. I also have ridden three different blasters, None of then new. The mojave has good handeling but the blaster is not far behind. However i do like the responce better on the blaster and with 6 gears you cant go wrong.

Really all of those are ok quads but no comparison to the blaster for fun or power. Plus we all know how much more it costs and how hard it is to get more power from a thumper. Plain and simple unless you are hunting or working with your quad you don't need anyhting but a 2stroke!

i have spent countless hours riding blasters mojaves and 300exs and the 195cc mill in the blaster is in a league of its own its way snappier than a mojavie and the 300ex ,i always fely mojaves were heavy and handled poorly and grossly underpowered no midrange power at all 300ex is torquey but just doesny have mid- top punch of the blaster the ex handles a little better due to its sizeing but is also 50 pounds heavier and more cumbersome in the woods, one side note i might add to the mojave is i have a buddy who works at our bike shop and claims that the most common bike in there for major repairs is the mojave.

NO NO. Im talking about the brand new January 05 edition of DW. not the old one. but back to the subject. ya dirtwheels sucks ass. and they also said that the blaster sucked out of the hole. I thought it was pretty good right off idle. it seems to me like it revs right up...
