| judging this to be some kind of a tricky question i would say tap water out of drain because of oxygenation and iron .rust is (iron oxide) but this test must be on metal rims im assuming because aluminum will just get that flaky off color build up crap. ![]()

| Hmmmm, I think saltwater needs to be included. That's my #1 pick. My #2 is acid rain. Anything acidic will etch polished aluminum and cause it to look white/dull and oxidize.

| My thought would be regular water, I just bought new coated ITP rims this summer and they are already showing wear/corrosion on the inner part of the rim where water can sit if they are not dried thoroughly. I don't see how rain/dirt water could do this as the quad is completely cleaned after every ride, so my thought would be something that is added to tap water (be chlorine or who knows what) causes the rims to rust. Dirt and mud probably assist in this as they scratch the coating allowing the steel/aluminum/whatever to be exposed, I do not see the coating itself being able to rust so it has to be exposed first.
