Default Can This Be Why My Brakes Dont Work?

Hey I have been struggling to find out why my hydraulic brakes haven't been working. I just took them off about 1 hour ago and noticed something on the master cylinder. where the arrow is pointing there was rubber there and it was shredded a ripped all apart. I took it off because it didn't look like it was helping no matter what.

but since that rubber was messed up like that do you think it would stop my brakes from working at all?

hydraulic brake lines have to be bleed so there is no air, no air means pressure so if the rubber seal was allowing air in that could be your problem

The boot you removed was called a dust jacket. It kept out dirt and debris from the plunger shaft and has nothing to do with whether your getting air in the system.

Raise the ass of the quad a good foot or two into the air and leave it overnite. In the morning bleed the brake like normal. You can also try tapping the lines a few times to help any trapped air reach a bleed point.
