Anatomy of a 79' Bob Hannah 'works' bike

In the late 70's Bob Hannah absolutely ruled the 250 outdoor and supercross series. In 78' Bob set a record 22 wins in a row. These are details and pics of his actual 1979 bike!

His bike while looking similar to what you could buy at the showroom featured technology that is even now considered cutting edge.

Kayaba rear shock w/rezzy. Hand built at a cost of $8000 back then.

Magnesium engine cases.

Carbon fiber motor mounts- what you thought that was new?

Titanium bolts, titanium kicker.

Internal rotor ignition w/ it's own custom map curved CDI- you thought PVL thought of it?

Titanium shift shaft that was also drilled out hollow.

Aluminium clutch rod.

Hand cut custom tranny gears riding on hollow shafts.

Cut and hollowed shift drum.

Works custom made longer swing arm.

Mikuni 38mm carb specially cast and made for his bike.

Pirelli tires.

Carbon fiber lever perches w/drilled titanium pins.

His works bike weighs right around 200lbs.

Here's an inside sneaky works trick not well known. Hannah had a endorsement contract with Sun-line to use only their brake and clutch levers. The Sun-lines were not very durable and bent and snapped too easy for the legendary Bob Hannah so 25 sets of MAGURA levers were cut and shortened to look like Sun-lines and were installed for him. Contract or not Bob Hannah don't use crap levers!

Of course custom porting and different pipes for different tracks. Bob preferred lots of midrange...PB

Sweet bike Paulie! That bike would look sweet in a modern video doing modern moves! Maybe even some freestyle? It would be awsome to see the talant of today, tossing around the bike of yesterday like it was tomorrow! Hint...Can "YOU" get a vid out that soon!

I think those are pics he has not his actual bike "Terry Good collection" is on all of the pics so I think those are pics he got of the bike. I just seen your sig I take it he liked the blaster?

He doesn't own the bike anymore, BUT that's the bike He rode. The bike is priceless and all the gear on it is original. It does not get ridin anymore. The last pic of the bunch is of the man riding that bike.
I did manage to email Bob and talk about my quad. He probably thought I was some looney stalker but He did write me back
