Default I'm Sick Of The Stock Heel Guards

For my banshee i am sick of the ugly stock heel guards and plates and want to run just the pegs, i have short legs and sitting on the bike i cant even get my one leg to touch the ground, i dont have money to buy aftermarket cuz i just bought tires, i just want to know how many people ride without them with no problems, i know theres the common run over foot but even when i was 12 on my 250 trike i never ran over my heel, i have never even had my foot slip of the peg that i know of, i think i am going to run it with them off and see how i feel, if it gets alittle sketchy i am putting them back on , sound like a good idea, running over your foot and braking your ankle or damaging your shin doesnt happen that often anyways

whats your opinions

Rip em off! At the same time it makes you a better rider.
I've had a few accidents but the paddle never grabbed my leg. Double up on the pegs for the feet to stick!

ya just make ur pegs wider, that will help, nerf bars will always help that possibility of ur ankle getting run over, that really only happens if u hit an unexpected bump or something..

yea thats the only way i would ride without the metal heel rests or nerf bars, my friend rides without them, with the skinny ass stock pegs, i think hes crazy, stock banshee peg is an inch wide... thats a thumb,, think about that
i love the little stock metal heel rests, i shaved the outer pointy heel guard mount off each one so they dont kill me if it rolls on me, other than that i love em, all the new quads are comin with shit plastic ones now

Mine has none. I just put my nerf bars on but still no heelguards. They bug me.

I've been riding 20 years and hated the heel guards until this happened to me last Feb. at the dunes.. Bike came up and instead of me sliding of the back my foot got stuck under the paddle and held me hostage till my leg pretty much exploded. Compound open fracture w/bones sticking out like 3 inches. Im def. putting them back on even though they do look stupid. Be careful out there!

Yeah.. I don't get it! 700r's....... the powerhouse machines.... with plastic armor! WTF!!!!
platic bumpers, heelguards & plastic skid plates lol..
One of my favorite Banshee mods are the IMS Kickup pegs. Keeps your feet stuck on those teeth & makes it a more comfy ride!

That looks painfull up there, did you recover fine?

there are a few companies that sell just a bolt on heel guard. IMS, PRO ARMOR, and U.M. are some that i can think of. so i guess that while you are saving your cash, put them back on if you dont feel safe.

The healing is going well. In about 2 weeks I will finally be in a cast. After that a walking boot. Sometimes i just want to crawl out of my skin from the pain and boredome!
