Default Altitude question

Hey guys I'm brand new to this forum and to 2-stroke bikes. I'm going to get my 13 year old his first bike and am looking at a Suzuki RM-85L. I live in Phoenix which is at around 1500 feet above sea level but travel to the Flagstaff area which is near 7000. With my 4 stroke I never really have a big problem with the elevation change but one of my friends is telling me that with the 2 stroke I'll need to change out the jets and tune when I go to Flag. First will the altitude make the bike run crappy and 2 how big a hassle is the jet change.

Thanks in advance.
