Default maybe UGLY...help me Decide... Quadzilla purchase!... LONG

Hey Guys...I'm new to the Zilla world.. the Banshee was lonely..lol!!

Anyway..

Sat night: i guess it was just an Impulse buy, as the Zilla SUPER intrigued me, and i'm almost positive my step-brother owned one when i was little...i found this doosie, and picked it up...after what these seem to sell for, i'm concerned i didn't get as good a deal as i thought.. :ph43r:

Found it listed for $1500 or so...dude needed the $$ and i drove 7 hrs round trip for it...

Here goes:

-87 Zilla frame, powdercoated black (beautiful)
-New Maier Plastics
-Motor Bored .020 over (real clean inside) Mostly polished (needs some touch-ups) don't know much else (kick gear isn't engaging...kinda concerning..)
-one polished swing arm (needs some touch-ups, again)
-one complete swing arm, axle, skid plate, etc
-polished rear rims
-two radiators
-FMF pipe (no silencer...trash..."wouldn't want it anyway..") decent shape...needs paint
-shock covers (ooohh...)
-new seat cover
-two carbs
-new DG Nerfs

that's about it for the 'special' stuff..
for the 'missing':

-steering column
-wiring harness ( i think...)
-one front wheel
-rear brake rezzie
-pegs
-misc bolts and bla bla
-Stainless bolt kit (motor i presume...) (forgot that..)
-Original Plastics (which i was told initially when we met that they were broken, and thrown out... (wow, piss me off...)

WTF!!!!

(i sent a $100 paypal the nite before leaving...(he mentioned he was getting so many calls...so i felt a sense of urgency. The RETARDED thing is, i KNOW better to do my research....but for me, i'd would have wanted to take the bike apart ANYWAY if it's as nice as he says.....and some of the work and expense is taken care of already...

When we met, (remember the missing parts...) he pulled everything out of his brother's Dugango (what a sight...) and laid it out (missing pieces and all)

He commented 'it's all there, looks good, huh?...you don't look too excited?!"

--I Guess he still has the thrill of riding it in him...i'm just seeing the work...of putting it together, and FINDING the missing CHIT...

so after some talking, and expressing my concerns about the missing stuff, and the the issue with the kick gear, I told him $1k would be fair...... He whined for an hr about his financial woes (he looked quite strung out...on controlled substances..lol) foreclosure, repossession, etc.

He was adamant about $1300, and he'd send the missing parts, which he noted as:

-Plastics (now they're cracked, but i can have them anyway... musta jumped back out of the trash...lol )
-Bolt kit
-set of new matching polished alum rims (wait a min...now we have stuff we forgot we didn't include per our conversation...more sketch
-Silencer

and, last but not least:......

"Anything else i Got..."

We settled on me giving him the $100 dep, $1000 that night, and we'll talk about him sending the other Stuff...

He leaves me a message Sun 11am and mentions that he has all the 'stuff' packed
up...call back 3 hrs later, and mentions he has OTHER stuff he didn't know he had, pegs (one of the 1st things he mentioned he didn't have) two new tires and rims (really!?!), Brake res...

so i call him back, he mentions everything is packed up, and when i send him the paypal, he'll ship the stuff out...

So i ask: What is it exactly that your sending me, i get " ya know, the front rims, plastics...there's no cracks in 'em, ya know, and, um, ya know, all the stuff I GOT!... It's yours ...just send me the $$ and it's yours...I don't have a quad anymore, so it's yours....I won't have to put it on Ebay." I replied: "ok, Email me a list, with some pics if you could, and when i get it, i'll send you the $$... It's 4am, Tues morning..still no Email..

it's probably not worth me screwing with this guy for $200 more...when what i need might not even run that elsewhere..

ALL IN ALL..

did i screw myself? I figure this:

Powdercoating ~$400
Plastics ~$400
Motor ~$300
Nerf Bars ~$125

so that should cover my cost, as well as the drive...

What do you guys think?\

Thanks for letting me vent
J

Need to see pics but it sounds alright depending on the condition of the motor. Sounds like the missing parts are nothing major to buy if you buy them used. Depending on the motor you could have a running zilla for under 1500. Post some pics

I'd give up $1500 in the quickness for a mostly complete zilla that only needed a couple odd ball parts.......Sounds like its going to be pretty nice too, when put back together.....

need pictures of the bike, if its in decent condition $1500 is a great price. People pay $1500 for LT-250Rs in good condition, so the big brother at that price is not bad.

PICS PLEASE!
