wont shift ( sorry dads 4 poke)

My dads 4 poke wont shift its a honda rancher 350 with a push button elec shifter. It will shift up only when the keys on but not running and the it wont shift down you have to shift it down the manual way . And when you start it up in neutral and its running it wont shift at all with the push button or manual. This happened went he had it parked for about a month.Any ideas thanks

It might be one of the shift cylinoides or what ever it is called for the push button electric shift that might have to be taken to a shop to get fixed
