| i posted a similar thread in the general 2 stroke section but they moved it to the trx250 section. its not a trx 250 its a cr250 dirtbike. i need some info on a couple things i recently bought an 88 cr250 with fresh top end and new keihin carb. its in great condition, starts first or second kick even when cold. can someone explain the spark plug numbers and what i should be using for tight trail riding or what plug will last longer than two hours without fowling. i use a 9 since thats what i bought the bike with. is a higher number a colder plug or hotter? how long should my plug last? i use maxima 2stroke oil @ 32:1 w 93. oct. and i want to change the trans oil but have no idea how much goes in or how to check the level. |

| on my 98 cr125 theres a flat head screw witha rubber washer under it. When you loosen it oil should flow out. Thats the check bolt. If you do a google search for your bike "88 cr250 specs" it should come up with some general info for oil capacity and stuff. my 125 takes 10w-40, but ive switched to bel-ray gear saver, and it works wonders. go a little leaner with jetting. Ive never had to rejet before, but theres a whole bunch of people who know a lot about jetting around here. Try thumpertalk.com, but go to the honda 2-stroke section and see if you can get some responses there too.

| thanks guys! i need to figure this carb out. how could i adjust it without jetting? maybe it has the right jet but adjusted a little fat. since the carb has been replaced i have no idea what jets have been selected for it. |

| There should be a idle screw on the carburetor, that you can attempt to adjust your idling. I would use a BR8EG in that bike, if you have fouling problems use either a standard B8ES (no resistor) or BR8EV or BR8EVX. 125s have a mind of their own, I would use the B8ES, there under $2 each, and work really well in that bike.

| A CR250R has a air screw, not a fuel screw. Turning the screw In takes air away, out gives more air. If the bike Is fluttery when you first throttle Into It, then lean the needle by raising the clip. Is It a PWK, or a PJ? The PJ has the Idle adjuster built Into the choke knob. Honda HP trans oil works great (Red bottle), your bike should hold close to 3/4 of a bottle. I usually lean the bike to the left side for a few seconds, then stand It back up straight and top off.
