| I tried to use the search function up top, but it didn't work for some reason... So, who are the best porters for the 250R? I don't go to big companies anymore after ESR had their hack screw up a simple bore job for me. I've had my porting done by Rick Kirmil (macdizzy), who did an amzing job but he doesn't seem to be available, at least not to me. Eric Gorr I hear was good, but moved his work out of country. |

| Well, the work right now anyway isn't for me. It's for a friend with a stockish 88R who is going to be blasting Glamis dunes. My quad is now at 69mm bore, 38mm AS carb, reeds, TRX5 pipe, RK head, and midrange ported for duning. He's new to riding so mine is a little bit too touchy for him, but he thinks he can handle more power in his. I don't know why ESR did what they did. I was surprised too. I was just having them do a bore job for me. People seem to like them so much I didn't even think about it. But when I got it back, the left exhaust port wasn't chamfered at all, they didn't take enough material out to clean up a ring groove by the intake port, did what looked like a quick job on chamfering all the other ports, the ex. bridge was relieved so unevenly it measured like a roller coaster. To top it off they lost my contact information and preference on piston choice and when I called them they had a little more attitude than I thought they should have given the bullshit experience I was having. I was pissed after it was over. I wound up sending it off to Rick to finish the work, paying for the job twice. Anyway, so basically, I'm looking for someone who isn't going to do rush work and knows the technical ins and outs enough to do a 100% job on the porting and can recommend the best pipe for the work, etc. Do you know anything about Rick? My guess is he's basically not coming back, or maybe he's sick of me berrating 4strokes on his site. haha. I dunno. Last edited by IamJasyn; 06-19-2006 at 10:08 PM. |

| Hey, thanks for the replies. Ya, the cyl is decked. I dial it to .39-.40 squish when I do a top end on it. Funny story was my RK cracked and for a temporary I had Loren Duncan make a head for me as we're both in the San Diego area. He took his measurements and cut the thing and when I got it on the cyl the squish was like 2mm after he said it would wind up around .45". I was shocked... I separated the stock head gasket he sold me and with my flat stone "milled" the rest down but I had to run C12 to run it while I was waiting for a replacement dome from Kelsey (which I still need to bolt on). The next step for me in doing my own work probably at this point is porting, but I don't know if I want to go that far into things. Seems like good 2stoke builders are drying up tho. Where did you start with porting? Do you use some of the free software out there? I'll keep your cyl in mind in case he just wants to buy a bolt on. I will definetely keep it in mind.
