Default '86 piped trx250r carb settings

i recently took my stock carb apart to clean it when i was at the dunes because it got a piece of sand in it. and i forgot what the idle speed and mixture was at so i put it to factory specs and put it back on. the quad will not idle if i do not hold the gas a little open it quits, i tried turning up the idle speed but it doesnt seem to help so i started adjusting the mixture screw but nothing helped. i have to push start it to get it started which is very inconvienient lol. i think i am so far off that adjusting either one little bit wont help. can someone tell me what they idle speed and mixture is set at. i have a fmf pipe and the airbox lid off with a K&N filter. the main jet is a 155 and i am not sure what the pilot is. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think maybe your pilot jet might be a hair lean? mine wont idle hardly when its warm, but I think its cause I have mine leaned out on the pilot and needle clip cause I've been fouling plugs alot.

try going up one size on your pilot jet and start in the the middle clip on the needle and adjust it from there

it used to be able to idle all day. i was riding through the dunes and all of a sudden it acted like it was out of gas so i tried to flip the fuel valve to reserve but i was going through a section of whoops and couldnt get my hand on it quick enough. so it quit and i turned it to res. and started it back up and everything was fine for about 200yds. then it acted like it was out of gas again so when it quit the second time i checked the gas tank and i still had a half tank. then i tried kicking it over again and it wouldnt start. i was pretty close to the exit of the dunes so my cousin with piped banshee with paddles towed me back (not very fun getting roosted for 1min straight). the dunes were going to close in about 30 min anyway so we packed up and went back to camp. the next day i took off the carb to clean it because i figured i had a piece of sand in one of the jets, i cleaned it out pretty good and put it back on. i tryed starting it again and it wouldnt start so i cleaned the carb again and still nothing. then my dad said maybe i blew a crank seal and i thought my vacation was ruined. so i pu tmy hand over the intake and it seemed to suck just fine. then i checked the reeds an they were getting a little fatigued but seemed good enough to work. then after about 4 hours of trying to get it started i was about to give up then my cousin said lets try to push start it. so we did and it started and ran fine as long as you kept giving it a little throttle to keep the rpms high enough to idle because if you didnt the rpms would drop too low and it would quit. so then we figured it was the idle speed but no matter where you adjusted it it wouldnt idle high enough to stay running. then we messed with the idle mixture and nothing helped. then my dad said when he looked at the carb the idle mix was only 3/4 turn out so he returned it to the stock setting of 1-7/8 out. so i returned the idle mix to 3/4 and still nothing but by now we had been adjusting the idle speed all over the place and the shop manual doesnt say where to put it. and this is pretty much where i am now. any idea?

sry about the long post but i think if i explain my situation someone will know what to do.

oh and it doesnt idle by itself when its warm either. you can kick start it when it warm if you give it throttle but not when its cold.
