Default my R wont Idle??

I put on a TRX-5 Pipe and esr silencer, cleaned and re-jetted my stock carb (went to a 168 main) and tok the airbox lid off. I ran it wide open in 3rd and checked the plug, it was a medium brown and the bike was running strong. The problem is I cant get it to idle without the choke. I tried turning the idle knob but it doesnt seeem to change anything anymore. any suggestions?

did you go up on your pilot jet too? its probably lean, try maybe a 45 and see what that does. and mess with the air screw a little to see if anything changes

no i didnt change the pilot jet. I had moved the clip down 1 slot. it was in the middle and i went down 1. The plug was a little Dark so i moved the clip back to the middle and it came out medium brown. when i was riding it, if the rpm's were low and i gave it full throttle it would bog then catch and pull hard. When i put the carb back together i put the air screw back where it was when i took it apart. I screwed it in all the way and it is 1 5/8 turns out. which way should i go with the air screw?

yea this is how my bike acted with the stock carb. its lean on the pilot which is why it has the bad bog before the power hits when you give it full throttle like that. since the pilot is lean you will probably want to richen up the air screw, so try screwing it all the way in then back out 3/4 to a full turn and see how it helps the idle and response. do you have a larger pilot jet that you can put in it?

I will try adjusting the air screw. I dont have another pilot jet but can get one. I just need to know which one.

Five0Nick - When i ordered my pipe i asked the guy from ESR what i should do about the jetting and he (robert) didn't seem to knowledgable about the pipe on a stock bike. he told me to go to a 165 main and take the lid off and that should get me close. is there someone that you have talked to there that is a little more familiar with near stock set ups?

Also, where the pipe seperates and is held together with springs is leaking. I figure a high temperature silicone should fix it. did anyone else have this problem? if so can you recommend something to seal the pipe?

yea mine leaks right there too a little bit but its nothing to really worry about. high temp silicon like you said would seal it up good. I use it to seal the flange where it connects to the cylinder.

what size pilot do you have right now? you probably would only need to get the next 2 sizes up, that way you can try em and see what works best
