| ok so I pulled my stock carb apart and checked the pilot jet. It is a 48 and the main is a 168. so i re assembled it and tried adjusting the airscrew and the idle adjustment. here is where it is set now. Main - 168 Pilot - 48 Clip - bottom position Air screw - 1 7/8 out (clymer manual says that is stock) Idle Adjustment - Backed the Idle Aduster all the way out (closest to the shoke position) and turned it back 1 full turn. In this setting it will idle pretty rough and the choke helps to speed up the idle. If i turn the Idle adjuster all the way out it will idle as if the chike is on and the choke is pretty useless at this point. Does this sound right? that the idle Adjuster only has about one full turn of useful adjustment? If i back the adjuster of any more than one full turn it wont idle and just dies. can anyone shed anylight on this situation? My dad was helping me get it to this point but he thinks it needs a new carb. |
