Angry Installing the 38 airstriker

I just received my 38mm airstriker my 86 250r. I was trying to put it on and I can't get the old brass piece off the end of the throttle cable. Is there a trick to this or do I have to also order a new throttle cable. Denny has already told me to boil the boots to get them to stretch and fit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Jay

I was in your shape exactly when I got my air stryker carb. yea you do have to get a different throttle cable. where did you get yours from? I got mine from esr but theres didnt include the throttle cable. but the sell it seperate for $15 on their site. but I did use the stock cable. I just took and ground that little brass piece off very very carefully with a bench grinder without messing up the cable and i got it down to where it would fit in the carb cap. and as for the intake boots all you gotta do is heat them up so they stretch. I just used a hair dryer on mine.

have you tried it out yet? cause it will feel like somebody gave your R a big kick in the ass, it will feel like a whole different bike, especially if you already have any exhaust or other mods like porting, head mod or ignition mods

I haven't done it yet. I will try to ground it down tomorrow. I have heard it will make a huge difference. Thanks

Preciate it. I haven't done a whole lot yet. Denny is porting the jug as we speak, it has the 38mm airstriker, fmf sst pipe and turbine core silencer, 450r front shocks and many 400ex misc. parts. 400ex swingarm, a-arms front and rear brakes.
