Default stroker ?'s

I have an 86 that has been totaly rebuilt when we put the new hotrods conecting rod in we took the tin cans off of the crank halves well come to find out this is a bad idea as it has a negative effect on crankcase windage, how I'm not sure. I'm getting ready to put in a 87-89 crank with the 86 piston and spacer plate do I need to change jetting, go to a larger carb, ignition mods or anything I'm not thinking of? we have been trying to get this thing running right for a long time and getting ready to head to oregon and don't want it to run like garbage again any help appreciated.

Why does your title say stroker?'s, there is no difference in stroke between an 86 crank and an 87-89. Rod length is the only difference and that has no effect on stroke.

I've always been told that a longer rod helps make it a little more reliable cause it puts less stress or angle on the piston as it travels up and down in the cylinder.

your gonna need a spacer plate if you run an 86 engine with a 87-89 crank and a 86 piston... why not run a 87-89 piston?
